Composition/Choreography

When: Every Tuesday from January 31st to March 13th

at 6:30-8:30pm

Where? At 4 West 43rd Street Third Floor-311

(This is between 5th and 6th Avenues)

We will have 6 classes of 2 hours.

Participants will create their own project.

On the last class you can show your projects to the public.

You can Invite your friends.

(No class on February 14th-Valentine's day)

26 directions of Laban

We will work on composition/choreography learning about the 26 directions that Laban developed in space. Ruldolf Laban codified movement on space based on the 'solids' such as Tetrahedron, Octahedron, Cube, Icosahedron etc...

This kind of course you learn with people who studied Laban Movement Analysis susch as a

CMA(Certified Movement Analyst)

Ceu Kingshill is a CMA/Choreographer who has choreographed several dances on the scales of Laban.

Example in 1998 in Thailand she choreographed West Side Story. Ceu used the Cube to choreograph the whole 'fight' between the Jets and the Sharks.

Also She choreographed several times using the A sacale of Laban.

This gave Ceu a new way of composition.

Process: At each class you will learn 5 directions on space and compose . Then we will film the group and send in a private video to all so you can study and work on your project. In the end of 10 hours you will have your own choregraphy.

Results

If you do half of this course you already get goods results.

However when you do the 10 hours courses you will be able to

1) Explore your own movement in space and be able to teach others.

2) Have a better understanding of your 'space style' in dance

3) Have a better Understanding of your anatomy in relation to directions in space.

4) Compose in a very practical way and or know how to enhance a choregraphy that you already have made.

5) You will know how to read the 26 directions in spaces.

This class will open a whole new way for you to make a clear choreography.

Schedule: Tuesday from January 24th to March 20th

1) 12:30-1:30pm: Prayer In Movement: Mid-day prayer time for everyone.

People In Movement:

2) 3-5pm: a) Inner Healing: (Christian Process but non Christians are welcome as well)

b) Dance Therapy (For teenagers and adults with special needs such us ‘Autism spectrum’. Also this class is for people who would like to work their emotions pain through dance. (This is by appointment)

c) One to One Movement Education/Therapy: This is for people who would like to integrate their movement, reduce stress , relieve muscular pain, tension and the ill-effect of injury. (This is by appointment)

3) 5:45-6:30pm: Postural Gymnastic/ Movement Education - This is for people who would like to integrate their movement, to reduce stress and to relief muscular pain, tension. (Open class for everyone)

4) 6:30- 8:30pm: Composition/Choreography: (This class goes until March 13th) This class we will help you to explore your profile of movement. Your creation and also help you to develop your body using the 26 spaces of the kisphere developed by Laban. To know more about this class please go to classes's link.

1. Movement Education and postural gymnastics.

Prerequisites:

This class is for persons who desire to have a better

spine/posture; release stress/pain and live a healthier life.

Ages? 18 to 65 years old.

Males and females are welcome.

Fee: $20 per class and $60 per 4 classes.

For some result we recommend no less than 4 classes.

For a great result plase do 8 to 10 classes.

2 - Praise/Worship Dance

This class is for people who desire to learn how to worship God through dance.

People with Special needs are welcome.

(People with special needs don’t learn like others who don’t have the same situation. Usually people with special needs have ‘trouble’ to perform some types of skills or to complete a task that they have to figure by themselves. Especially if the task is not connected with their ‘world’. Therefore we don’t teach them in a ‘traditional or conventional way. One of the ways we teach Praise Dance is through images and for people with special needs we try to use what they know already. Please call for more information at (917) 9693719

Come and see how people with special needs can flow when we allow God to use us to help them.

Our class is designed for both: People with special needs and anyone else. Therefore if you know a person with special needs and would like to do the class with him/her you can also do this class together. Or you can bring the person and wait outside. Just sit down and watch the class is not accepted.)

Who? Male and Female ages 15 and up (Teenagers must be accompanied by an adult)

Fee: $20 per class and $60 per 4 classes.
